Leviathan, Creature Design Contest Entry

Diplocaulidae Balluae, also known by its nickname "Leviathan", is a gigantic deep sea dweller. It's found with similar size and appearance around the world, which fact convinces scientists there is only one species of this mysterious creature. Not much first-hand research material of its living condition has been found except for on-shore carcasses and its eggs and larvae. However, from the scars on its fore-body, the areas of its habitat and its body structure, some information was inferred, including its diet, means of communication, means of preying and average body shape. In addition, the similar bone structure as a cold-blooded animal's suggests the possible ways of its movements.

Hello everyone! This is what I have been working on for the past one week, since there's still time and I really wanted to create something specifically for the Creature Design Contest held by the Helpful Bear Productions. After several major adjustments, I finally feel it's ready to be shown!
The original inspiration actually came from the name of the group I was in, Diplocaulus, that is, when I was taking Professional Practice class. :D
As you can see, I focus on making it as scientifically believable as possible, so the left sheet actually took much more time than the rendering! LOL
Hope you enjoy it!

Fall Semester Works Update

Just finished my Fall semester! A relatively productive semester I would say; incredibly helpful and inspiring instructors and classmates helped a lot, and here are the works I produced during this period.

You can check out the full version of my portfolio via: http://tungchiart.weebly.com/

Concept Art for Game 2
Instructor: Brandon Luyen

Narrative Painting
Instructor: Craig Nelson

Professional Practice
Instructor: Gilbert Banducci

Works finished on this class were a little special. The concept art was produced for a group project, so the direction was given by the group producer instead of the instructor. The instructor gave certain requirements as that a client would have given, and the group had to produce a marketable product, which in this case, was a short animation series based on the renown children's book the Colorful Kittens.

Works in Jun. and Aug.

Works in Jun. and Aug. From top to bottom: newer to older ones.

A lovely girl I met recently. We took a road trip together to some awesome landmarks including Grand Canyon. She always wanted to take a photo of a cactus which shapes like a fork, yet we found non throughout the whole trip. I said to her I could draw one for her, but she said she could draw it herself. Anyways, I feel an urge to draw her, so I include the little cactus. :P
Also, I tried to mimick Dice Tsutusmi's style.

Inspired by a girl I knew and the character in a vampire novel ( can you guess which one?). Tried my best to really finish it. Reference masterpiece is Ruanjia's.

Got inspired by some people I met. Unfortunately, I kinda have lost the initial passion. I probably won't finish it digitally as I originally wanted to. Anyways, still like the feeling that the image reminds me of, so I put it up.
Enjoyed a lot the research I did for the anatomy.

Tried to capture some special feeling and mood. A work done after watching Thomas Scholes' masterpieces. Totally my art crush.
